Aggregator

A market-registered party that bids a portfolio of behind-the-meter batteries into wholesale and ancillary services markets on behalf of their owners.

An aggregator is a market-registered participant that consolidates a portfolio of behind-the-meter energy resources (batteries, controllable loads, sometimes rooftop solar) and bids them into wholesale energy and ancillary services markets as a single scheduled resource.

Aggregators exist because most behind-the-meter batteries are too small to register in markets directly. AEMO in Australia and EMA in Singapore both have minimum registration thresholds that individual sites usually can't clear. An aggregator provides the market registration and the customer-facing product on top of it.

Amplicity works with aggregator partners in Australia (for NEM/FCAS participation) and licensed retailers in Singapore (for Reserve AS participation). The specific partner varies by market and by site.
