UPS

Uninterruptible Power Supply - a battery-plus-electronics system that provides seamless power during a grid outage.

An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is a stored-energy system that keeps critical loads powered without interruption when the grid fails. It sits between the grid and the protected load. The battery inside a UPS is typically sized for 10 to 30 minutes at full protected load - enough to bridge a grid disturbance or start a diesel generator.

Modern industrial UPS installations are almost all lithium-based and can be cycled meaningfully without accelerating end-of-life, which makes them suitable for optimisation. Older VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid) UPS systems cycle poorly and are usually not good retrofit candidates until the natural replacement cycle.

Amplicity's core product is a control layer that safely cycles UPS batteries into revenue-generating dispatch windows while preserving the backup guarantee. See Backup floor for how the guarantee is enforced.
